Yes, yes, an ADVENTURE

Well, we finally got word from the Army and Bill will be starting his new job on October 27th.
All of a sudden I am feeling busy again trying to organize things and information. Looking at flights and apartments.
I don't feel much about it yet, except strange that after October 14th I am leaving Washington State (my home) for Georgia. And I won't be back. Not for a while anyway. And even then, not to stay. I don't have much time to wallow in this knowledge becuase there is too much living going on here.
The next two weeks are great. I get to work my last meetings with Weight Watchers, see Phantom of the Opera, go to Greenbluff. On the 14th I get to fly to my mothers in Phoenix and have a nice visit. Bill is going too, then heading to Georgia early to hopefully settle on an apartment for us around the 21st - ish and then Miriam and I will follow him to our new home.
Everyone's favorite expression for me has been - "It will be an adventure." Do me a favor and STOP SAYING THAT. However, I am sure you are right.

My child slept from 6:30pm to 7am. That's right - over 12 hours. Not straight through mind you - (this did include her early morning bottle which I can't seem to get rid of thanks to her lack of growth a few months back - now she acts like she NEEDS it) and her diaper was so soaked in the morning I had to give her a bath. But I thought - wow - She went down at 6:30 and I didn't even have to get up at 4am.
Just thought you should know . . . maybe there is hope for us yet.

She can walk!

So this was the post I put up today on Miriam's totsite

"The reason I haven't been posting on here, daily or at least weekly must be this: She can walk!

I've decided we can officially say she can get up and walk because she can get up and walk across a room or down the hallway and possibly back. It's amazing. Just today Miriam got up and took more steps then I have ever seen her take at once. And she's doing it OVER and OVER again.

The other thing she likes to do over and over again is climb the stairs. This one is my least favorite. Because we can go up but not down. And if mommy brings us downstairs, 2 minutes later we are just going back upstairs. And as much as I didn't want to spend my 35 dollar gift card to Toys R Us on a gate, I decided the time had come. Thanks to Jenna and Kevin for keeping Miriam off the stairs.

Right so if I disappear for another month, it's because I'm chasing my daughter."

This is the truth. This is a whole other kind of work from the work of a newborn. The golden age of laying baby down and letter her roll around the floor without being too worried about her getting anywhere (has been over for awhile) is completely behind us.

WaMu takes a dive

So just days after my mom and I were discussing why we should leave money in our bank account with Washington Mutual would you know that the bank fails (the biggest failure in US history too) and has to be taken over and sold by the FDIC.
We were discussing how one of the problems in say the pre-depression days is how everyone freaked out and took all their money out of banks and then the banks didn't have any money. So check this out:
"Simply put, WaMu was victimized by a classic "run on the bank." Customers withdrew $16.7 billion in a 10-day period following the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, leaving WaMu "with insufficient liquidity to meet its obligations," its regulators determined." (for entire article see here).
16.7 BILLION dollars in 10 days. Of course the bank is FDIC insured up to 100,000 (per account or person??) and it's not like we have ANYWHERE NEAR that kind of money. So pretty much doesn't affect me much at all.
But I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to make of all these events. Any thoughts?
And honestly, don't go running to take all your money out of your bank account. Then they collapse. See above. 16.7 billion dollars. 10 days. 1 bank. Wow.

Rainy Day

What a better day then today to sit around in pajamas and snap pictures all afternoon? Then organizing months of pictures and finally sharing them with friends and family.

Miriam hearts dogs

Miriam apparently has no fear. We are staying at a friends house, they have two good sized dogs. They've been really great with Miriam, but I don't know - sometimes those canine teeth just make me nervous!
We were hanging out in the doorway watching the dogs and they started to play. Rough housing with eachother. Even though they were just playing it makes my little hairs stand on end when they bare their teeth and growl at eachother. ("They are just playing, they are just playing")
Miriam? Every time they would growl . . . she would laugh.
Right little one, really funny.

The Magic Word

I have to laugh because, I am officialy finished with the Twilight series. I was nothing less than totally enthralled for a grand total of like . . . 8 days.
I've decided when there is a big old fad in book reading, I ought to just give in right away.
I first heard about Twilight (Eclipse actually) on Cami's blog. I didn't know what she was talking about. And even Kirsten mentioning how excited she was about it did nothing for me. But one day (months later) I decided to check out Stephenie Meyer's website and . . .hello . . . this book is about VAMPIRES? Seriously? Sweet! Not that I don't have a totally hidden romantic core, but I tend to steer clear of romance books.
So now I am done, and bathing in the memory that was (is?) my total addiction to Edward and Bellas world. It ended perfectly by the way. Just right. For a vampire romance.

Homeless

Last week and this week (apparently) we have been staying with Bill's buddy Jeff and his family. It's nice, we have a bedroom and bathroom, we can play Wii if we'd like, and there are dogs for Miriam to get excited about. But really, I'm a little bit frustrated about still being here.
I have no new news from the job front. I got something related to the background check so at least it is underway.
Miriam continues to keep me busy. She decided last week to really crawl, in response to cracker crumbs down in the basement. She still loves cruising around, will pull up on any surface that seems suitable and will even take a few steps alone between two things if she is feeling brave. She gets very pleased with herself for doing so. She thinks it's great fun. She's discovering more things though - like plug-ins - so keeping up with her is a must.
That's all. Must go keep myself from being nasty in a letter to the realty management company of our old apartment complex. . .
