Editing

Remember this excerpt from a week ago?

"In the evening I got hoarded by the children in the neighborhood who decide (after weeks of leaving me alone) that they want to play Wii. Are all children around the age group of 7-10 so rude that they walk into your house when you told them no? Ask if I have snack and cookies every 10 seconds and I'm wondering if I should send a bill to their parents? Just wondering, but I did put him to work so I suppose he earned his game time. And P.S. I am SOO tired of them saying "You have a Wii? That is so unfair. Can I have your DS(which was a gift)? Since you have a Wii can I have your (broken) Playstation?" I told them "Excuse me? We work hard and save money for the things we have. If YOU want a DS go do some WORK."

Let me tell you what I edited out of this entry.

"Actually what I am more worried about is how they run around telling every other kid in the neighborhood that we have a Wii. We are known as the people with a Wii by neighborhood children. I'm concerned about one of their big brothers deciding to come confiscate our stuff to be honest."

So go ahead, guess what Bill found when he got home today?

Miri vs. the Meltdown

Poor Miriam. After 2 days of getting an hour nap (maybe) when she usually gets 2 hours, and getting 10 hours at night when she usually gets 12, Miriam had a meltdown today. We got up at 5:30 (8:30 GA time) and by 8:30 we were crying about everything.

Poor kid. She had a 2 1/2 hour nap and seems to feel tons better.

Mommy got to take off and go shopping while baby was sleeping! It was way fun. The only things I bought though were baby/save-my-butt-on-the-plane-ride-home related. I did try on some clothes that I will be going back for in 10 pounds though. And I treated myself to some chocolate covered pretzels. Did I say 10 pounds? I guess I meant 12.

Make the Next Legal U-Turn

Well here I am visiting my dad. It's been really nice. The only part that is difficult is the time difference. Miriam and I are extra tired. By the time we are used to it we will be back home.

Yesterday we went to an art gallery to pick up a Charlie Palmer painting that Dad and Dede won on (what else) e-bay. We were using VZ Navigator (verizon) which I was thinking was pretty cool. Since lately I've been printing out directions from Mapquest every other day, I was thinking maybe it might be worth having Internet on my phone to have a feature like that. But then it led us up to a ferry that was out of commission. So we drove the other way telling Navigator to recalculate route.

"Follow such-an-such road for 2.9 miles and....make the next legal u-turn"

Recalculate route.

"Make a U-turn"

Drove for a while. Turned onto another highway. Recalculate.

"Follow such-and-such road for .5 miles and...make the next legal u-turn."

It was getting rather hilarious - except-hello, Ferry isn't running today NEED NEW ROUTE. "Make the next legal u-turn."

We eventually got to a town and got directions where we were going and EVENTUALLY it quit telling us to make a u-turn. I am reconsidering using this feature.

She's so cute.

Pictures of my neice here. I guess they are going to be at Bill's Grandma's house the same weekend Miriam and I are going down. Neat-O.

Attacked by Geese is good

So there isn't too much going on here this week with Bill on a business trip. Except that I have the car and can go wherever, whenever I want.

So Monday:
I spent the entire day up at another ward building "helping" feed the missionaries for zone conference. I say "helping" because really, I just watched Miriam and another little girl. Was that really worth missing her nap? Couldn't they have played at my house? But I did get fed and sang to, so that's nice.
Had a lady from church come over because I had to go to work in the evening.

Tuesday: Went shopping! Miriam got new-used shoes, we got some food and toys for our trip. Went to drop Miriam off at another lady's house because I couldn't find a sub for work. Bless weight watchers (Sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm).

Wednesday: Another one of those don't have to go anywhere or do anything for anybody. Which I especially love after working Monday and Tuesday. In the evening I got hoarded by the children in the neighborhood who decide (after weeks of leaving me alone) that they want to play Wii. If YOU want a DS go do some WORK." See dad? That stuff you told me? Might have sunk in.

Actually haven't heard those questions since.

Thursday: Trying to decide WHERE TO GO (where I won't spend much money) so that I can be gone in the afternoon/evening when neighborhood children show up again. Is this wrong? If I was in Washington I would just go live at Brenda's for the day. Easy. Not so easy here.

Oh and my title? This morning we were walking around the lake. The geese have built a nest on the bank fairly near our place. I-uh-thought we had done pretty good sneaking by. After all there is a good 20 or so feet from the building and the nest. But after I was WELL PAST the nest Papa goose decided to fly at us. Little bit scary. I also had my child, so you better believe I was ready to snap that buggers neck. Don't worry, we all survived the encounter. But see if you get any extra morsels from me STINKING BIRD.

Really Quick

The RS B-day party is OVER - thank goodness. I wrote an entry about it but it was long-winded and wound around some different churchy subjects until I just gave up on it.
Our family sickness (which I haven't posted about) are almost over.
It's been really warm here - 70's and even 80 I believe. Which is nice (uh-oh, this is SPRING?).
I updated Miriam's totsite - although I think I might be on the end of my space allowance.
Must go attempt to exercise....
In the meantime - think on this:

I am about to take NO SMALL TRIP with a toddler - to OR and AZ. I need 2 things -
1)Suggestions on easy things I can take on long plane rides to help entertain Miriam
2)How I can carry her car seat through the airport to gate check it. Already have carry-on diaperbag/purse, umbrella stroller, and CHILD.

Winter Wonderland - Georgia Style

Remember the post from YESTERDAY? The one where I talk about how Spring is almost on the way? These pictures are from my phone camera this afternoon after church. SNOW! The first time since we came to Georgia. Welcome March, have some SNOW. Thursday we were having a blast a the park doing this:
(Notice the bright sun and the no coat)
And today we were having a blast with the snow in our face!

It is stopping and going and sort-of sticking. Bill is shocked to find me LOVING THE SNOW. Hoping that it will keep going and going and going so we get a couple frozen inches on the ground so that we ALL get to stay home tomorrow. No Firearms, no WW in the evening for me. Georgia just isn't equipped to deal with that sort of stuff. A few inches and some ice = shut down (or so I hear). So bring it on I say. I hope you fellow Washingtonians are getting a big laugh out of this after having record snowfall and REAL extreme weather all winter. I sure am. What's worse? It's TRUE.
